SA_Brochure Cover

Hello Everyone,
It took me a week to decide what to do for my brochure cover... However, I am not satisfied yet...
I do need your opinion on which way to go and how I can improve it.
Thank you.

  1. Sarah, I see a nice shift over to the requirements of this Design Brief. Before next class, please pull this writing into Microsoft Word, and have it help you with grammar and spell check. There are some confusing sections and few typos, and I’m sure it will suggest some better alternatives.

Your images span a wide selection, but I see your audience or your client in all of them – so this is a good group of photos. If you were still looking to expand your photo options, I would suggest you find photos of the natural resources that are affected by this industry – like clear waterfalls/streams, etc… to highlight those resources which MBDC would be helping to conserve.

Colors – Now that you have many of your photos, please do compile a 4-color palette based on them for us to see on page 3 of the Brief. Please choose no more than 2 dominants, and then create the rest of the colors from neutrals that appear to be related, and support those dominants. You will also need to pay attention to the value range (lights to darks) to make sure you have those options available to you when you begin the page layout. Please know that your logo colors may not actually be in this color palette (because the palette is based on your photos) – but it should not clash with them either. Don’t wait – put this together so it is part of the visual Brief.

Lastly – don’t’ get trapped into telling the client what will go where, yet, in the page layout. That isn’t what is necessary at this stage – and I’ll be talking to you about the beginning of the brochure this coming class and some ideas about how to “invite” the reader into it.
