  1. Pavlo – nice to see this starting to come together. As a reminder of the feedback I gave you in class last week:

Your chosen target audience makes sense, and this is exactly the type of work MBDC would be involved in.

Colors: Make sure the colors in your palette come from the photos themselves. And please take a second look at using that light blue background – I’m not convinced that it will support the photos and concept as well as simply a white or off-white background. Remember, design is all about contrast… so when you lessen the contrast on your pages, that can diminish the success of your layouts.

Fonts: We spoke about you choosing more contemporary fonts, since this is a very contemporary subject.

Logo: Consider using your leaf as an element in your logo, rather than a secondary element. The footprints are not of your own creation, and seem to add a young-audience feel to the logo, not really appropriate. Logo font – sans serif is a good idea, but this one appears to be poorly constructed with uneven strokes and a overly-wide kerning aspect. Keep looking for the perfect font.

Cover design: you will need a photo, possibly of the manufacturing of bottles?

Infographic: Good data. What other approaches can you consider beyond just a big/small bottle comparison? Take a look at other infographics and the way they portray large and small amounts of items.

A good beginning (late, but better late than never).

  2. Pavlo,

This is great start so far. So with a first glance at your photos I can tell that you are trying to target plastic bottles or plastic industries. Try including one of those photos or something similar in your cover to make it stronger and let the reader know what industry you're targeting. Also I'm a little confused because in your brief you mention for your approach that you will be using cool and warm colors. However, your palette is just cool colors, and I'm not sure that they are directly pulled colors from your photos so they are not necessarily unified. Also, since your industry is mostly plastic, I'm not sure what warm colors would work with this anyways, so I would stick to the cool palette. Also, I'm not really liking the line in the feet of your logo. It's not needed. The viewer's eye can tell that the feet create a triangle, the line isn't necessary to remind us. I also think the infograph information is great, but I would try figuring out a more creative approach on how to represent this data. This illustration, as Coni would say, is a bit ubiquitous. Play around with it a bit more. Great work so far!
