I definitely feel like the logo/cover on the bottom is more color appropriate for your brochure. However, you can make a few changes to it to make it even better. First, leave some space between all of the letters. The MB are far too close and make a thick black line between the two. The DC look okay, but give them a little space as well, just so they aren't touching, unless thats what you wanted. The two lines could be pushed a little bit further apart as well just so one set of letters isn't completely sitting on top of another. Second, consider making all the letters one color. If you make them all that blue color, try taking the stroke off as well. It might make it look a little less jumbled together.
Keenan, I will vote for the logo in the bottom... However you can try to put "MBDC" in blue and remove the leaves underneath "DC". I like simple design... So, here is my opinion...
I vote for the logo in the previous post... with the arrows. That speaks in a more adult way for your client. These logos with the illustration work, as fun as they are, seem to speak to a much younger audience.
