My name is Eleni Pirperis, and I have been hired by MBDC to create a brochure marketing our benefits to the paint industry. I have created this brochure for the viewing for the CEO of the paint industry as well as to interior designers appeal. I felt this would be essential for interior designers as well since nowadays people rely heavily on them for their input on their space and expect them to help them invest their money where it is best for them.
Paint is a very commonly used by all, not just painting companies, but it is in the convenience of the average person to purchase and paint themselves. Little do they know that paints are highly contaminated with great amounts of VOC (volatile organic compound) which are the hazardous, poisonous chemicals in paint. The system in which paint cans are disposed of are also quite harmful to our world. There is actually no stable system for the disposing of paint cans. There is a recycling system that is passed in only 3 states, however, it still doesn't guarantee it to be recycled properly.
With the help of MBDC we can make paint with little to no VOC, as well as create a biodegradable can for packaging. This way we can save the indoor environment that impacts your health, as well as the outdoor environment that effects us all.
For my design, I wanted to stick with a clean, contemporary design. I've done this by using a generous amount of negative space with the wide margins and high leading. Although CEOs are used to reading heavy amounts of text, I wanted to provide high leading again for that contemporary feel and breathing space. For fonts, I chose geometrical shaped with the inspiration that William McDonough is an architect. For the headings I chose Rockwell since it is a recognizable type and appropriate for large headings. I used Avenir for the body copy. Serif fonts are proven to be more readable, but I chose sans serif body copy again sticking with that contemporary look. For my color palette, I chose the cool toned Earth colors of blue and green. This color is a sophisticated color palette for CEOs as well as that they match with the MBDC Cradle to Cradle theme. The colors are puled straight from the photos to keep the design unified. For my photos, I included interior designers working/painting because CEOs like to see the process of work being done. The rest are photos of paint and eco-friendly paint images. For my logo, I chose to make a green thumb print into the shape of the world because the expression "green thumb" means to plant, but also in the shape of the world shows eco-friendliness to help the Earth. The title on the cover page is in the geometric font Futura.

Eleni - a deep understanding of the environmental issues that MBDC is involved with coupled with a good understanding of the industry is shown in your writing and your design. Very nice.
