The audience I've decided to make this newsletter for is the CEO of a company in the alcoholic beverage industry. I chose this industry because many people enjoy drinking alcohol; whether it's for a party, a night out or even for a campfire in the woods. Now I'm the type of person that is very outdoorsy, I go camping a lot and I'm always outside on some type of adventure. I come across a lot of trash on my journeys, and most of the trash I come across are beer cans, cardboard that held the beverages, broken glass, etc. and throwing their trash away is the last thing they're thinking of when they're having a good time. I feel as though this industry would have a little bit of a better light shining on it if it were to "go green". Although their cans and bottles are usually recyclable, they are not biodegradable, so if they are left on the side of the road or in the forest, the fact that they are recyclable doesn't matter. They could also change the way they get their power at their big factories and do something good for the environment. The pictures I've chosen have to do with going green, and I feel as though they work well together. Although, I would like a second opinion.

Nichole – a good start! Finding trash in the woods is a disconcerting thing, and a waste of resources. Your first photo shows all the different kinds of material that litter the landscape: glass bottles; aluminum cans; paper. These are 3 very different manufacturers, involved in 3 very different processes. Are you planning to target this brochure to all of them? Sometimes, communicating to such a large audience can be more difficult than designing for a smaller, more targeted one. This might be why the content of your photos is all over the map – energy production of wind and solar, happy family, green field, photo composite of hands and urban landscape. Not sure what the visual message here is? So – I encourage you to think about a more limited target, and tailor the photos to the message you want them to receive. Photo composites is a great idea – so the bottom image should serve as inspiration for you to work in Photoshop to produce your visual(s).
ReplyDeleteHi Nichole,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your post, you did a great job for searching pictures for you idea. These pictures have similar color theme which could help you unity the style for your project. And here is the few problems I concern about.
1. If without the text, just look at the pictures, I could think about the recycle industry, but not specific alcoholic beverage industry.
2. The first 4 pages background is solid, and maybe you could think about how to deal with the backgrounds.
You did a great job, and I looking forward for your next post.
